This is a new Hammacher & Schlemmer 12″ Chef Stainless Germany 1950-60s of the Hammacher & Schlemmer 12″ Chef Stainless Germany 1950-60s team. The team has a product which features a breathable mesh design, and has a cool, comfortable fit.
Hand forged after drop forged stainless steel 12″ chef knife made for NY retailer Hammacher & Schlemmer in the 1950s or 60s with classic post war style curved inner handle / bolster junciton and a brass riveted wood (pear or other fruitwood?) handle. Blade is convex ground on faces with a fine finish, and the blade and tang taper indicating it was hand forged after being drop forged.
This knife has been sharpened in some and is a little thick behind the edge, it would make a great work horse knife for heavier tasks that might damage a thinner bladed knife. Handle is in great shape and is very comfortable in a variety of grips.
12″ blade 2 1/16″ at heel and 17″ overall
